1st Bake Quest of 2011

Today we had a small baking session to experiment with a cheesecake cookie recipe that we found on the net.
We are not going to post the recipe on the blog, so if you think the pictures look good you can tweet / facebook us for the recipe, OR alternatively you can also order from us and request us to make the cookies ;)

Going to let the pictures do the talking!

Then we started with the Cake in Mug!

It was pretty good!
Will definitely try it again sometime, maybe with banana and walnuts? Hmm
But overall, we would say success!
And for the cookies, we are considering baking another batch and giving them away! FOR FREE! (WUT!?)
Stay with us and we'll tell you more about it soon! ;)

New Recipe ALERT!

Just came across this amazing looking recipe on this website, its for a Chocolate Cake in a Mug!! Its what it says, a cake in a mug! Which is great cos if you feel like eating cake you don't have to go to the shop and buy a slice or make a whole cake and worry about finishing it all.

The perfect size!

It seems mad simple too, so tomorrow we're going to try it and see if we can make a cheesecake in a mug! So stay tuned to our Facebook page (Thanks again for all the likes!) as well as our twitter for updates on our bake-quest!!

And in case you are itching to try it out yourself, here is the recipe:
Ingredients
  • 4 Tbsp cake flour (plain, not self-rising)
  • 4 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Tbsp Milk
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • Small splash of vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp Chocolate chips (optional)
Steps

  1. Use a microwave safe MUG: to add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork.
  2. Add egg, mix thoroughly.
  3. Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Add chips (if using)
  5. Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts.
  6. Cake will rise over top of mug--do not be alarmed!
  7. Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired.
And TADA, CAKE!
If you try it, tell us how it went through the Facebook page, we'd like to post your picture of your cake on our blog! Or maybe if you made an interesting alternative, we'd like to share the recipe!

OATMEAL COOKIE BAR

Was really hungry yesterday so I bought a cookie at my school’s library cafĂ©, oatmeal raisin, was surprisingly good! So today I was surfing the net hoping to get some recipes to try for myself. Chanced upon this website and found a clever no bake cookies recipe for No Bake Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie Bars

I think the idea of “no bake” is great. You don’t have to wait for the cookie to bake, and if you don’t have an oven, you still can make cookies! A great treat for your loved ones or just a treat for yourself.

No Bake Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bars Recipe

  1. Lightly spray a 20 cm square baking pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Combine the cereal and oats in a large bowl and set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat bring the brown sugar and corn syrup to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until blended.
  6. Pour the mixture over the cereal mixture and stir until well coated.
  7. Let the mixture rest for 2 minutes.
  8. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  9. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press into place with clean moist hands or a large square of wax paper.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Cut into desired size bars.

Try them out and tell us how they turned out!
And do feedback if you'd like more cookie / other non-bake receipes :)

Cheers!

Longan!
I'm sure everyone is familiar with this fruit, but a short introduction: "The fruit is edible, extremely sweet, juicy and succulent in superior agricultural varieties, and apart from ingested fresh, is also often used in East Asian soups, snacks, desserts, and sweet-and-sour foods, either fresh or dried, sometimes canned with syrup in supermarkets." (Thank you Wiki!)

Do order from us, all details to do so are in the "Order Cheese" Tab located above.

Sawadeka!

Hello everyone,
Sorry for the lack of updating!
but one half of The Cheese Shack is to busy enjoying sunny phuket!!!
Yes i am soaking up the sun (escaping from project work teehee!) and leaving my poor business partner alone in the kitchen!
It has been great here so far, not so much about the weather but more so about the shopping (oh the shopping!) and the eating (oh the food!!) the combo is both making my wallet thinner and my waist line bigger!! But i'll worry about that when i'm back!

So while i was swimming - all great ideas occur to me when im surrounded by water for some weird reason - and i thought we should make some crazy Thai flavours! Like Tom Yam Cheesecake! Or Sticky Rice Cheesecake! YUM!!!

What do you all think!? Any more ideas? ;)
